Description
A COMPLETE SET OF TESTS THAT CHECK: • Presence of Chlamydia trachomatis by PCR • Presence of Neisseria gonorrhoea by PCR • Presence of Mycoplasma genitalium by PCR • Presence of Ureaplasma species (e.g. U. urealyticum, U. parvum) by PCR • Presence of Trichomonas vaginalis by PCR • Presence of Gardnerella vaginalis by PCR • Presence of Herpes Simplex Virus types I and II by PCR WHAT THIS TEST SUITE REVEALS: • Which of these common sexually transmitted pathogens (if any) are present in the sample (positive/negative) • Possibility of co-infections — detection of multiple pathogens in the same specimen • Specific pathogen(s) responsible for symptoms or infection, enabling targeted therapy • Detection of asymptomatic infections, important for prevention and early intervention • Guidance for clinicians on appropriate antimicrobial or antiviral treatment based on identified organism(s) • Helps in monitoring response to treatment and preventing complications associated with untreated STIs (e.g. pelvic inflammatory disease, transmission to partner)
